This guide helps you to correctly configure the appliance.
Initial setup
When you have download the LibraCyber ESG appliance image from the Downloads page and imported it in your hypervisor, you can login in from the hypervisor console.
Note: the login default credentials are admin/password.
The first operation to perform, once logged in, is to set up the appliance networking parameters by selecting the option 2 from the menu: Change Network (IP/Netmask/Gateway).
Here you can set the IP address the appliance will have, the Netmask/CIDR of the network the appliance will be and the Gateway.
When the networking parameters are set, you should be able to reach the appliance from the web browser as http://<ip-address>/
At this time all configurations are taken over by the web configuration wizard.
Web wizard
You can complete the web wizard in 6 simple steps. Each step is documented below.
Admin User
In the first step of the wizard you can configure the appliance administrator credentials. The password must be between 8 and 30 characters long. We strongly suggest you to use a random password stored in a password manager.
Appliance
In the second step of the wizard you have to set general appliance data.
- Organization Name (the full organization name that will be used in reports)
- Short Organization Name (the organization name to use in email headers)
- Website (your organization website that will be used in contact us links)
- Email for system messages (the email ESG will send issues notifications to)
- Country (your country, useful for the timezone setting)
- Timezone (the timezone for your country, we suggest to keep the host time set to UTC selecting the below flag)
Networking
In the third step you have to configure the appliance networking parameters. The default values are the current networking parameters. In the last field you have to type the appliance Hostname. The hostname should be the same as the A record on your DNS.
Configuration
In this step you have to configure a domain and a mailserver. If you have to configure multiple domains, you can add them later. If you are performing a migration from the 4.9 version, you can select Import an ESG 4.x migration file option and import the previously created backup.
License
Now you have to upload the license (the extension of the license file is .zl). You must accept license terms to proceed.
Firewall Check
In the last step ESG runs a check procedure in order to test the infrastructure firewall rules. You have to set the firewall to make all checks green.
