With LibraCyber Email Archiver you can import a list of archives of emails from a remote volume configured as an import volume on the Archiver.
The supported archives formats are:
- Microsoft Outlook accessible Storage Table files containing standard message format per user: PST, OST and MBOX
- EML files provided in zipped folders: 7Z, BZ2, BZIP2, TBZ2, TBZ, GZ, GZIP, TGZ, TAR, XZ, TXZ, ZIP, ZIPX, JAR, DMG, IMG, ISO, JZMA, RAR, VMDK
- PST containing journaling emails
- Multipart ZIP folders
The import configuration process is divided into four steps: choose tenant, import volumes, files to import and import data.
Choose tenant
In the first step you have simply to select the tenant on which you want to import the emails.
Import volumes
In the second volumes you have to choose the source volume and the execution disk.
The source volume is a remote volume where you have stored the archives to import. If you have not yet configured an import volume on the Archiver, you can do it now by using the green plus button.
The execution disk is a local disk attached to the Archiver and it's used only during the import process for operations like the archives decompression. The execution disk should have enough available space to proceed: the minimum required space is 3 times the dimension of the biggest archive to import.
Please note that all the used space on the execution disk is freed up by the Archiver when the import completes.
Files to import
In the third step, you can select which files and folders on the import volume you want to import on the Archiver.
With the Folder-based import option you may decide to let the Archiver import an entire folder recursively, without differentiation of settings from file to file.
This option comes in handy when handling thousands of files spread across different folders.
It can be used in combination with the Filter option to exclusively import files of a specific file extension.
You may still use the other options described below, that will apply to the entire folder and its subfolders.
The Override ownership option allows to specify for each archive the user to assign the emails to.
The folder icon represents the Preserve folder structure option, which allows to import on the Archiver the information about the folder structure of the emails to import, too.
A pair of advanced options are also available. These options are usually useless, but you can use them in case of particular need.
The Replace already imported emails checks if an emails has already been imported and, in case, deletes the old email and replaces it with the new one. When this option is not active, the Archiver skips the already imported emails.
The Check exact email size requires that, in addiction to all default checks, the sizes of two emails must be exactly the same in order to consider the two emails equivalent.
Import data
In the last step you can simply check the import configuration and then proceed.
When starting the import, a new batch import job will appear in the jobs list.
About performance and limitations
Running PST batch import jobs are limited to one per tenant. You may launch more PST batch import jobs at once but keep in mind they will be processed one after another instead of all at once.
When starting a PST batch import the Archiver will calculate how many extraction and import processes should be running at once based on the available system resources.
It will then split the given files into multiple processes that are able to run simultaneously, speeding up the import procedure.
