Antispam General Settings
From this section you can configure general Antispam Engine settings.
Engine Settings
- AntiSpam Engine Processes (how many parallel scanning processes for each vCPU available. The maximal and suggested value is twice as many processors are there (2 × vCPUs). Every 5 children require 1 GB of RAM. This parameter is essential in order to avoid overloading or underloading of the appliance)
- Max Allowed Message Size (reject messages bigger than this value. The value of 26214400 bytes is always safe)
- Message Score Normalization (enable or disable it. Learn more about this algorithm from the Message Score Normalization knowledge base)
- Reject backscatter spam (enable or disable the backscatter checks. Backscatters are incorrectly automated bounce messages sent by mail servers, typically as a side effect of incoming spam)
- Message Headers Removal (list the headers you want the appliance to remove (use a whitespace as delimiter))
Spam Checks Plugins
The goal of these plugins is to increase the antispam detection rate avoiding false positive. To learn more about these plugin, please read the Spam Checks Plugins knowledge base.
From this section you can enable or disable these plugins:
- Network Checks (DCC, Razor and Pyzor)
- Image Spam Recognition
- QR Code URI Detection
- ShortURL Analyzer
- Bulk Mail Plugin
Antispam Action Settings
From this page you can configure Message Actions (multiple actions allowed) on a per domain basis.
Spam Levels
Messages are classified as Clean (normal), Spam (classified as Spam) and High Spam (classified as Elevated Spam). This classification is made by looking at the Spam Score and High Spam Score thresholds.
Note: messages with a high spam score are likely spam and there is no risk of false positives for these messages.
From this section you can increase or decrease the Spam Score and the High Spam Score thresholds. Warning: "you can" doesn't mean "you should". Please use it with extreme caution to perform spam detection surgery.

Custom Spam Policies
In this tab you can create custom policies to increase or decrease spam score of messages.
Note: this approach should be used only in very special circumstances. Do not use for general spam management.
In the table are displayed all the existent policies. You can filter out results by performing a Search. You can also save the table data by performing an Export operation. You can create a new Custom Spam Policy by clicking the New button on the table.
When you try to add a new policy in the table, this dialog appears. As you can see you can apply the rule to different parts of the message (i.e. Headers, Body and URIs) by settings the Rule Type parameter as you need. You can apply this rule to all domains or limit it to a selectable domain. The core of the rule is the Pattern Match parameter, which must contain a full PCRE formatted regular expression. Pay attention setting the Rule Score parameter. You can set a positive or a negative value. Please, don't be too aggressive.
Once the configuration is done, please remember to click the Apply Settings button in the toolbar.
Rules Override
Here you can adjust scores of existing rules to make them more or less aggressive when triggered. In the table are displayed all the existent rules overrides. You can filter out results by performing a Search. You can also save the table data by performing an Export operation. You can create a new Rules Override by clicking the New button on the table.
To customize a score simply copy and paste the rule name as it appears in the Message Detail section of the Search page and set your own rule score. To disable a rule simply set its score to 0.
Once the configuration is done, please remember to click the Apply Settings button in the toolbar.
