The Setup Checklist is a step-by-step guide to configure and deploy the Cyber Awareness chatbot (Alex) within your company. The checklist consists of 4 steps for Slack, Google Chat and Webchat and 5 steps for Microsoft Teams, which adds a dedicated step for policies:
- Messaging platform — the messaging platform
- Teams Policies — Microsoft Teams only
- Deploy Alex
- Assign your first course — assign the first lesson
- Activate automatic course delivery — enable automatic distribution
Typically these steps direct the administrator to other sections of the app, where you can complete specific actions. Once you complete an action, the status of the corresponding step updates, either dynamically or based on administrator confirmation.
The Setup Checklist in Cyber Awareness › Setup: each step directs you to the section of the app where you can complete the action (example with Webchat channel, 4 steps).
Messaging platform
This step allows the administrator to define the channel that your entire company will use for end users. Webchat remains always available in addition to the selected channel.
Alex is not limited to a single channel. The available platforms are:
- Microsoft Teams
- Slack
- Google Chat
- Webchat — the channel integrated in the LibraCyber app, designed especially for users who do not have a Teams or Slack account, or when the environment is on-premise and provisioning occurs via CSV file
The choice depends on your context and customer needs.
ATTENTION: after confirmation, the messaging platform cannot be changed by the administrator independently. The choice is fixed during the configuration phase; to change it you must contact LibraCyber Support. Choose the channel carefully before confirming.
Teams Policies
This step appears only for Teams configuration. It ensures that the Microsoft-side settings are configured correctly for the chatbot deployment to work; the step directs you to public documentation for troubleshooting.
The administrator's confirmation is declarative: by checking the box you only register your confirmation, but the application is not able to verify that the Microsoft settings are actually correct.
Deploy Alex
This step opens the Chatbot Configuration section, where API permissions are granted to LibraCyber. The step is completed once the permissions have actually been granted. What the Chatbot Configuration section shows depends on the channel chosen in the Messaging platform step. Here the administrator grants the specific permissions on the Microsoft, Google or Slack side needed to enable the chatbot.
Deploying Alex means making it visible as an app of the messaging platform to the intended users. It does not mean that Alex will immediately start contacting users.
Teams – Grant API Permissions | Deployment Type
The Grant Consent button (Teams) takes the administrator to the Microsoft admin console and requests approval of the permissions. The Deployment Type section allows you to choose the audience to which to deploy the bot in Microsoft Teams — the entire company (company), by department (departments) or by individual users (users). The section also contains a link to troubleshooting documentation for cases where Alex is not deployed to some users (Microsoft store version / third-party apps).
NOTE: the Microsoft Grant Consent link is single-use — each attempt consumes a token valid only once. If consent fails or the link is expired, reload the Chatbot Configuration tab to generate a new link and try again. There is no need to open a support ticket.
Google Chat Configuration
The Add to Google Chat button directs you to the public configuration documentation for Google Chat.
Slack Configuration
The Add to Slack button opens the Slack consent page directly for granting permissions.
Assign your first course
This step directs the administrator to the lessons catalog (Cyber Awareness › Lessons). The step is completed when at least one lesson has been assigned.
Assigning a lesson has no effect on the end user until automatic delivery is active: Alex will not automatically contact end users until automatic delivery is enabled (an operation to be performed as the last activity, after defining order, frequency and recipients). Details on lesson assignment and ordering are described on the Lessons page.
NOTE (first value): you do not need to wait for automatic delivery of the next step to see Alex in action. After choosing the platform and deploying the bot (steps 1–3) and assigning at least one lesson, you can send one immediately with Send now (in the Lesson editor) and verify that it reaches a real user.
Activate automatic course delivery
The Activate auto delivery button directs you to the Preferences tab (Awareness Setup). The step is completed once automatic lesson delivery is enabled. Frequency, days between lessons and other delivery options are described in the Preferences feature.
