The Browser Defender extension is the component that installs in your browser to protect you during daily browsing. It checks downloads, the websites you visit, and the reuse of your corporate password on external sites. It also monitors other extensions installed in your browser and displays the status of active protections at all times.
What the extension protects
- Downloads — alerts you to dangerous downloads as soon as they complete.
- Browsing — warns you when you visit a risky or suspicious website.
- Password — alerts you if your corporate password is reused on an external website.
- Browser extensions — checks other installed extensions against your company policy.
Setup on first use
If you install the extension manually, the Welcome page opens automatically on first launch. The page attempts to automatically recognize your identity. If your company deploys the extension automatically, this step is skipped.
If automatic recognition succeeds, a confirmation screen appears with your detected work email address and the list of active protections. If your identity is not recognized, you will be asked to enter your work email address and a company token. The token is provided by your administrator, typically via the setup email. Then confirm with the Validate configuration button. In some cases, a one-time code sent via email is also required.
NOTE: whether password protection activation is automatic or manual depends on the configuration chosen by your company. It does not depend on the type of account you use to sign in. For the first manual activation, look for the Activate password protection button. If protection is already active and needs to be updated, use Update password instead. In some configurations with automatic recognition, the Set up now link appears instead.
To reopen identity configuration at any time, use the Manage identity configuration link shown on the confirmation screen. This is useful, for example, after a change to your work email address.
The extension menu
Click the extension icon in your browser toolbar to open a summary of the current status of your protections. If your administrator allows it, the Enable/Disable extension toggle is also available in the same menu to turn the extension on or off.
From the menu you can access Settings, which opens the full Options page.
The Options page
The Options page displays your detected email address and the status of active protections. It also shows your personal list of authorized URLs — domains marked as safe for password reuse alerts. It also displays your main company domain for sign-in.
- To remove a domain from the authorized URLs list, use the delete icon next to the entry.
- To update the status and data immediately, instead of waiting for the next automatic check, use the refresh icon on the same page.
Privacy: where your password goes
NOTE: your corporate password never leaves your browser. The extension compares it locally with a fingerprint generated on your device, without ever sending it or storing it on LibraCyber systems. To recognize you and your company, the extension uses instead the work email address and company token you entered during setup.
If you see an end-of-life message
WARNING: if an end-of-life or unsupported version message appears instead of the usual screens, the installed version is no longer maintained. Remove it from your browser's extension settings (or ask your IT support for help). Then contact your company administrator to receive the correct version.
